Today we closed out another powerful stage of #TheLariamTab, covering 20 miles from Boroughbridge to Towton, and in doing so, we’ve now walked over 200 miles. A huge milestone, bringing us close to the halfway point of this journey.
The route carried us along the straight line of Dere Street, the ancient Roman road heading south, past the charm of Cattal Station, where manual crossing gates still mark a piece of living history. From there, we moved into the market town of Tadcaster, long associated with brewing and Yorkshire stone, before pressing on to Towton. This peaceful village in the countryside belies its past as the site of the Battle of Towton (1461), one of the bloodiest battles ever fought on English soil.

The scenery along the way was nothing short of idyllic, sweeping fields, timeless lanes, and the kind of historic landscapes that remind us how deeply the past runs through Yorkshire.
Walking through these places with comrades, including fellow Fusiliers, and the steady support of friends and followers, has made each mile meaningful.

Today we also carried the memory of Tom Beevers, a young veteran tragically lost to suicide on New Year’s Eve 2024, discovered near Towton.

Just as the fallen at the Battle of Towton are remembered centuries later, so too must we honour those lost to #MilitarySuicide. Every step is taken in their memory, ensuring their lives and sacrifices are not forgotten.

Looking Ahead
With over 200 miles behind us, the progress is clear, but so too is the purpose. Each stage of this journey is a reminder of why we walk: for awareness, remembrance, and change.
Tomorrow, Day 11, we push forward from Towton to Little Smeaton, continuing to carry the weight of memory, the strength of solidarity, and the hope of making a difference.
