Today’s route took us 20.5 miles from Edwinstowe to Bingham, weaving through Rufford, Farnsfield, Oxton, Epperstone, and Lowdham before finishing in Bingham. The morning began dry and cool, but it didn’t stay that way, by afternoon, we were battling some of the worst thunderstorms and downpours we’ve seen in a long time. Every step was a reminder of resilience, persistence, and why this journey matters.

As we crossed Nottinghamshire, we carried with us the memories of three local veterans whose lives ended far too soon:

Andrew Twigger (44), from Netherfield, who died in July 2019.

David Lewan (51), Ex-Grenadier Guard, who passed on 18 September 2019.

Jonny Philip Cole (39), from Ironville, a 2 Rifles veteran who endured years of untreated trauma before his death in August 2018.

Their stories are painful reminders of the hidden costs of service, and of why raising awareness around #MilitarySuicide and the underlying root causes, beyond the default of PTSD diagnosis, is so vital. Every mile today was walked in their honour.

A positive moment came when we met a journalist from the Newark Advertiser. Our conversation carried on into the afternoon, meaning we didn’t reach the finish in Bingham until around 6pm, but it was time well spent. Helping raise awareness through local media is an essential part of #TheLariamTab, and today felt like a meaningful step forward.
